Allright my dear geeks, fans and freaks!
The moment you've probably all been waiting for... Tatadadaaaa!
I present to you the first high resolution map of the world:
This first draft is just something I drew up real quick for one of the players to get an idea where the heck the ship he was traveling on was heading. I quickly filled in all the white spaces, well mostly, by drawing in the rough political borders and most of the major cities. I decided I would give away the credit for this version of the world map to a young Zenian cartographer called Michael Townsend, who actually never went much farther than on or two villages beyond the safety of Westpoint. However, due to his habit of frequenting the local Sailor's Tavern, the Jolly Seagull, where drinks were cheap and stories were... mostly accurate it is believed. He drew this up after just two consequtive nights of interviewing the bar's frequenters, spending four silvers in total on drinks, of which he himself drank about half. So if anyone wants to remark about some of the quality's of this here map, just stop to think how you would have done it under those kind of circumstances! Incidentally there weren't many Nepharim visiting Westpoint at the time, and they were certainly not stopping by the Jolly Seagull, so Michael just kind of drew a few countries into the most Northern continent and hoped he would guess about right. Also the Rontra Republic has many more cities than just a capital actually, but he didn't like those Rat-kin much, so he didn't really get into much detail about that either.
Well I hope the map will at least be informative enough for you to get a basic idea about the lay of the land, Turil's in the middle, the path of Solar is diagonal on this map and all compasses in the world ALWAYS point in the direction of the Liferock of the Caementi. The latter is explained in the Seafarer's Manual by Mortimer Townsend, Michael's uncle, who did actually sail all the way to Ol'Darza a couple of times, and lost his leg in an unrelated lumbering accident. The manual can be purchased at Townsend Charts and Journeyman's Guides, prices ranging from 30 silvers for a bulk-printed copy to 11 gold coins for a fully colored hardcover limited edition. All off these books however contain a copy of Michael's map, for it is the best a procratinating lad could manage, when he remembered what his dad had asked him to do just three days before the book was to go to the pressman.
So there you have it! All perfectly good reasons why not to complain too much about my horrible scribbly doodling, because it all fits into the story of the world rather nicely this way! Except that it remains unexplained how Michael whould have known about all of the player character's campaign starting postions... but that might just be something of a personalization done by yours truly. ;)
(But stay put, because a strapping young bloke called Jeffrey Farthreader might just draw up a map that will be a whole lot better in just a few weeks or so! The tale goes that Jeffrey just got back from a twelve year journey of all the major port cities in the world and will include even the most obscure information he has gathered along his travels. You'll be amazed, we promise!)
